This week, we check out one of the “hottest” attraction in Singapore – The Singapore Flyer.
Is trip down to Singapore Flyer worth the money and time? Lets find out.
8.5/10 For overseas’ visitors
3/10 (for locals, if you pay $30)
The good: We think it is great for Tourists who are coming to Singapore the first time. A must-go in fact. Breath-taking views, some nice eateries / restaurants around. Good for photo-taking. Flea market to shop at.
The bad: For locals, we feel that at $30 per tic, it is totally not worth it. If you ask us, it really feels like paying $30 catching those views on higher ground, duh. We got our tickets for only $10 due to promo. We say, wait for the $10 tics if you really want to go. Even at that price, we don’t feel it is money and time well spent though.
10 mins was the queue time on a Sunday afternoon before we showed our tickets and gained entry. Neat. Not so when our team left that place at around 6.30 pm, when the crowd starts to form a long queue. It is probably because more people are interested in catching the magnificant night view of our city.
After gaining entry, we were shown some basic information about Singapore. Purely educational and perhaps fun for boys below 12 years old. Not so much for grown-ups locals like us.
Taking off, we were presented with breath-taking views of Singapore at the Marina area. But it only lasted about 5 minutes before the novelty wears off. The remaining 25 minutes were either spent taking pictures or chatting around. This was primarily because we were locals and has seen Marina Bay at least a dozen times, hence we were not intrigued. For visitors from overseas though, the mighty views might be well worth the trip. It could be even better, if you are viewing at night.
Flea Market (weekends only): There is also a flea market spanning the ground level and some to level 2. The vendors sell a variety of different products and they are worth taking a look.
Food: You can find a Nostalgia Themed Food Court here. It is built to look like 1960s Singapore. We liked the look and feel of it. Think retro interior design, and modern day cleanliness. For our overseas friends looking to taste local dishes, this is the place to go!
