Phuket Part II – Land Tour
For people visiting Phuket for the first time, you have probably heard of their organised land tours. You might also be interested in checking out the first part of this Phuket guide and review where we provided some important tips for a sea tour to the famous Phi Phi islands.
All the places of interest described in this land tour can be finished within a day or 2. We have provided some basic info as well as critic to some of these widely popular hangouts. You can then decide whether to go or not.
Here are the top places to go in Phuket (for land tour):
1) Simon Cabaret
Lady boys are well known in a place called Thailand. Here at the Simon Cabaret, you will find them performing on stage in different costumes and segments. However, keep your expectations in check if you are looking for anything more than a visual costume party.
Price: VIP seat – Adult 800 baht, Children 600 Baht
Normal seat – 700 Baht, Children 500 Baht
2) Big Buddha
Big Buddha is a popular view point in Phuket that many tourists will go for photo taking. Located on a hilltop, it sits more than 400m above sea level and is about 50 metres high. You can choose to take a taxi or trek your way up. Alternatively, you can also take photos and view the monument from afar.
3) Wat Chalong Temple
The most famous temple in Phuket. If you are the temple kind of person, you might wish to check this out.
4) Phuket Fantasea
A famous theme park that allow visitors to close up to animals like baby elephants and tiger cubs. Picture taking is strictly not allowed here with your own cameras. In fact, their strict checking has put some visitors off. You need to pay for them to take pictures for you. The price ranges from 700 – 850 Baht. There is also buffet food that seems pretty average. Kids might like this place though.
5) Cashew Nut Factory
In this place, you can find many different flavours of cashew nuts where you can buy for yourself or as a gift to others. There is also a corner where they show you how a cashew nut is extracted from the fruit. You are free to taste the nuts before before buying each flavour so you will know exactly how it taste like. Some of the popular flavours include Tom Yam and Barbeque. Contrary to what the name suggest, the cashew nuts sold here do not come cheap. A small can of nuts can cost about 195 Baht. Be sure also to try out their cashew flavoured drink. A recommended place to go!
Some tips and information for engaging a land tour package:
– You can find a land tour package in any of the travel booths located all around Phuket. Prices are generally cheaper in Patong area as compared to Kata area.
– A land tour package is basically booking a car with a taxi driver to bring you to all the destinations you want. For all destinations, you are required to pay entry fees or any other associated costs. In short, land package means only transport.
– Typically, the price range from 500 Baht – 1000 Baht. (at the time of writing). This depends on the number of places you are going.
